This works best in the Chrome browser from my experience so far.n Go to your Profile Put your mouse near the top of the list of answers but not on any or s and click your mouse wheel button. (don't hold it down) This should activate auto-scroll and your mouse cursor should change to one of these. n Wait. If you have 14 answers like me it could take 3-6 minutes or longer until you get to your very first answer. For someone like Garrick Saito user 2173979 with 5 answers it might crash Chrome before you get there. The more ram your system has the better.n Click select printer.n Wait some more. It will take a moment.n Wait some more. It will take time to gather the answers and yourputer may stop responding or the mouse may get jerky. Just wait.n The PDF will contain all* of your answers and have s back to the Quora page each answer is on and will also have s saved will not be full sized. They will be smaller preview sized images. Some extremely long answers may not bepletely archived. In the answers page they will go to a certain length then say (more). Unless you find and click each of those mores you won't have aplete archive. You need to search with the parentheticals (more) or it will just find every time you d more which will not you use Chromes Ctrl+F to find it don't (more) directly into the box. Type (more) somewhere else then copy and paste it into the box. This is because Chrome starts searching after the very first letter is d. As soon as you ( it will start finding ever instance of ( and lock up yourputer before you can get the rest of the word d in. If you paste (more) into the search box you avoid this.

As Tom says PDFs are designed to represent precise positioning of content on a page. Content can be represented by that styled by fonts by vector objects such as boxes ellipses or free form curves or by bitmap frames. Many PDFs are abination of these content s. The size of a PDF depends on how it was processed. There are many allowedpression techniques in the PDF Specification. In addition when you make a PDF you can ask the PDF generator to reduce the resolution of your bitmap content in addition topressing it. A modern Word document (and PowerPoint and Excel) are ZIP archives that contain XML instructions that describe the document. These can often be quitepact especially if they do not contain fonts and if the graphic objects are external s. In a PDF all content must be including fonts and all bitmaps. So consider Tom Word doc that slightly larger than the PDF he made. I predict that with adjustments to the PDF export settings he could have made it much larger or much smaller. The answer is that it is always possible to make a PDF smaller when you export it if you know how to operate your PDF conversion tool. If you only have the PDF then you can likely make it smaller with Acrobat (FileSave asReduced File Size). As an example I started with a 781K Word doc and saved it as PDF from Word. The resulting PDF is 789KB and it was made using Microsoft PDF export tool. I then used Adobe Document Cloud PDF conversion on the same document and the PDF was 718K. Going back to the Microsoft generated PDF I used Acrobat Optimize function to reduce it to 572K. The size of your PDF is dependent on the content you put in plus your processing method.
You can attempt to rebuild the PDF file. You convert the PDF file to a Word document. When it is in Word replace the s 149 799 Click OK. That it!
What kind of figures exactly? For plotted graphs - I use MATLAB Excel or Origin. There are very few things that Excel cannot do for which you can use the other two. If you do use Excel make sure to choose primary colors Times fonts smaller markers and thinner lines to make them appear more 'standard'. For drawings - I use Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Flash. Flash drawing is easier though not as powerful as Illustrator's. You can use Inkscape as the free alternative. Or Sketch on a Mac. You can also use Microsoft Powerpoint (although I hate to draw in Powerpoint some of my colleagues do a very good job with it) or Microsoft Word to draw simple figures smart art etc. Just make sure to change thick outlines to thin ones use colors such that they look great in grayscale too and use more standard fonts if you use Microsoft Office's great tool I recently discovered is Google Drive's Drawing document. It has basic but nice vector drawing capabilitites. Easy and quick. Post processing - nAfter creating your drawing you will need to produce a 12dpi or so .jpeg file for your figure. For drawings created in MS Office proceed by first creating a PDF document. Then you will need to convert the PDF into a 12 dpi s. Google about these conversions if it is all new to you. Or ask inment. Appearance - n Font - italic Use the journal's standard fonts. Arial (sans-serif) is usually rmended.n Font size - italic Should be specified in the journal's instructions. But a 8-12 point Arial font is usually the norm. Be careful with keeping the sizes consistent. When converting from PDF (vector) to jpeg (raster) maintaining font sizes is a relatively tough task that will need some understanding of the file formats.n Colors - italic Journals usually stick to primary colors in their plots. I don't know why. But whatever you use be consistent and most importantly use colors and symbols that also make sense if the figure is converted into a grayscale image. Also note that a CMYK pallette is used for printing purposes.n Figure size - italic White spaces should be minimized. Choose between half column or full column figures. Journal figures are tinier than what we are used to in presentations or books. Think aboutbining multiple plots into one plot or putting multiple plots (say four) in a 2x2 matrix layout. Hope this helps!
